Effective 18 September 2026
These terms govern 5-Minute Papers Uploader, referred to here as "the tool": a command-line application that publishes video episodes to the 5-Minute Papers channel on YouTube. The tool is operated by the owner of that channel, referred to here as "the operator".
The tool is not offered as a product or a service. It is not distributed, licensed, sold or made available to any other person, and it cannot be used by anyone other than the operator, because it authorises only against the operator’s own channel. Nothing on this website constitutes an offer to supply the tool to anyone.
The tool uses YouTube API Services. The operator agrees to be bound by the YouTube Terms of Service and by the YouTube API Services Developer Policies, and acknowledges that Google may suspend or terminate the tool’s API access if it is not compliant with them.
Google’s handling of data is described in the Google Privacy Policy. Authorisation granted to the tool may be revoked at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
The tool uploads a video to the operator’s own channel, sets that video’s metadata, thumbnail and playlist, and reads the video back to confirm the result. It does not access data about other channels, videos, comments or viewers, it does not use YouTube search, and it produces no analytics or derived metrics. If this scope changes materially, YouTube will be notified in writing and approval sought before the change takes effect.
All content published through the tool is created by the operator. Figures and data from published scientific papers are used only where the source is licensed to permit it, with attribution shown on screen; where a source is not so licensed, the underlying reported values are redrawn as original animation. Every episode cites its source paper and DOI on screen and in the video description. No stock footage and no generic AI-generated B-roll is used.
Episodes are explanations of published research, not medical, clinical or professional advice. Each episode is checked claim by claim against its source paper before publication, and states the paper’s limitations. Even so, the source papers themselves may be revised, corrected or retracted after publication. Anyone relying on the substance of an episode should read the cited paper. Errors reported to the contact address below will be corrected openly, and an episode found to be materially wrong will be unlisted, corrected and reissued rather than quietly removed.
The tool is provided by and for its operator with no warranty of any kind. This website is provided for information, and its content may change without notice.
These terms may be updated. Any update revises the effective date above.
These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia.
